THE LINEUP
This week's match featured some of the most skilled players in the game today. David Williams took control of the table early with his sheer aggression. Phil Laak tried to counter Williams with a little aggression of his own, but mistimed his play and wound up busted when he ran into Williams' flush. Five-handed play continued for almost three full nights, as John Juanda made a nice comeback from short stack to chip leader. Eventually, Juanda managed to knock off Andy Bloch - who couldn't catch any cards all week - and then trapped the oft-bluffing Williams and took all of his chips. After a three-handed tussle, Annie Duke was eliminated by Clonie Gowen as she made a desperate move to build up her stack. As heads-up play began, it was a clash of two former Poker After Dark champions in Juanda versus Gowen. . Soon "The Cyclone" took control and blew Juanda off his big stack. Gowen walked away from the table $120K richer and the first two-time champion in Poker After Dark history.
