The match got off to a blazing start with Eli Elezra busting out on the first hand with A-K versus Howard Lederer's pocket rockets. Elezra was allowed to buy back in for an extra $20K, making this week's winner-take-all prize pool $140K. The action didn't let up from there, with Barry Greenstein and Mike Matusow both busting out shortly thereafter.
Elezra controlled much of the play midweek with his aggressive play. A couple of missteps led Mr. Vegas to being short stacked, and he busted out on Wednesday after losing a coin flip to Antonio Esfandiari. David Williams finally started making some noise on Thursday, especially after rivering a set of Jacks against Lederer's pocket Aces and sending The Professor back to the classroom.
An epic heads-up battle between Williams and Esfandiari ensued. The Magician pulled out all of his tricks but wasn't able to pull the Ace out of his sleeve on the final hand as he was all-in with A-5 versus Williams' pocket 7s. Esfandiari was eliminated and Williams took home his first Poker After Dark title.
