POKER AFTER DARK IS A FLUSH WITH THE FANS

THE LINEUP

Not only did fans get to see exciting poker this week, they were treated to great theater. At times the match seemed like a Shakespearian play with some of the pros descending into madness. The insanity started when amateur player Paul Featherstone flopped the nuts in an early hand and Hellmuth continued to throw good money away. That beat seemed to rattle the Poker Brat and he second guessed himself for the rest of the match – at one point throwing away a pair of Queens when Featherstone only min-raised. The River was an especially treacherous card this match. It sucked out both Sexton and Matusow. The pros admired Featherstone’s game and good humor. Smith even pre-apologized for sending him to the rail. Harman was short stacked when she pushed all in with QJ, but Hellmuth’s pocket 4s busted her. Hellmuth, in a performance worthy of King Lear, spent heads-up muttering to himself and cursing the deck. Eventually he exited stage left when Smith spiked a third 5 on the River, beating his pair of Aces.
