Playing poker at the Mayfair Club was warfare. Harrington: “Respect came from ripping throats out and getting your own throat ripped out.” The Mayfair wasn’t for the faint-hearted and neither is PAD. The bloodshed began when Lederer crippled Harrington then finished him off with a pair of Queens over Action Dan’s straight draw. The next casualty, Shichtman, went from short stack to no stack when his AK got crushed by Lederer’s pair of 10s. Appleman, who had been bruised by Lederer, took his aggression out on Zolotow. Z pushed all in with Ace high but Appleman out kicked him. Appleman wouldn’t hold those chips long though. Heimowitz crippled him by flopping a pair of Aces to beat his KK. On the next hand, Heimowitz flopped a set of 9s to nuke Appleman’s pocket 8s. Heimowitz set his sights on chip leader Lederer then used aggressive betting to turn the tide. The end came when Lederer’s pocket King couldn’t vanquish Heimowitz’s pocket Ace.
