MATCH RECAP

"HELLMUTH BASH II"

POKER AFTER DARK IS A FLUSH WITH THE FANS

THE LINEUP

“Hellmuth Bash II” lived up to its name in the sense that the Poker Brat’s opponents pummeled him with their cash. Over the two matches, Hellmuth finished in the stratospheric-neighborhood of $250K. Tom Dwan’s opponents don’t think he’s much of a playa, but he obviously knows his way around a poker table. Durrr caught enough cards to build a scary table image, so when he’d bluff, players would dump their cash and run. He walked away with $150K. When you have two big winners, the money has to come from somewhere. Safai saw more flops in two weeks than other pros see in a year. He was hoping lightning would strike, but his marginal starting hands made poor lightning rods. He lost over $150K. Laak and Esfandiari are best friends and bitter rivals. The one subject they agree on is how bad Laak can play. But in the end they lost about the same, around $30K. Tran, who said he’d been up for three days straight, lost brain cells and around $40K.
