MATCH RECAP

"PHIL PHIL"

POKER AFTER DARK IS A FLUSH WITH THE FANS

THE LINEUP

When you put Phil Hellmuth and Phil Laak in the same match, you're just asking for trouble. Their personalities and antics boiled over the table for one of the most exciting and entertaining nights of Poker After Dark to date. And with so many poker authors in the game, it was amazing how quickly "the book" was thrown out the window. This game was downright crazy. Almost from the start, Antonio Esfandiari was red hot. By the third night, he had a commanding lead and single-handedly knocked Doyle Brunson and Erik Seidel out of the game. By the final night, three of Esfandiari's opponents, Hellmuth, Harman and Laak, we're still hanging on - but not by much. Then it was Esfandiari's good friend, Phil Laak, who threw water on the fire. After Hellmuth and Harman were finally eliminated, Laak built up his chip stack by bullying his way during heads-up play. In a series of bold calls, he orchestrated an amazing comeback and pulled a victory out of his hat, upstaging "The Magician."
