THE LINEUP
For people who make part of their living by talking about poker, these players were remarkably quiet. Even Nejad, normally a one-man filibuster, was restrained. For the first couple of days, play was as tight as their lips. They finally loosened up after Scott was on the brink of elimination and she fired off five All-in bets in six straight hands. She got three walks and doubled up twice. Her gutsy play inspired the rest of the guys, but despite her heroics, she was knocked out when her 5s ran into Kaplan’s Kings. Kaplan was short stack twice but aggressively came back each time. He played unconventionally, pushing in his chips with weak and strong hands alike. He was an old-timer playing like a member of the iGeneration. He knocked out Nejad (just as he had the last time they met on PAD), Gregorich (who put it mildly by calling Mr. Kotter “cagey”), and Lederer (who owned the chip lead most of the week). In heads-up, Kaplan caught a flush on the flop to beat Sebok and claim his $120K.
