THE LINEUP
Big personalities were on display this week, appropriate since an artist was sketching them all week. He had to draw Lindgren from memory since “The Magician” sent “E Dog” to the rail within 15 minutes when his Qs out ran Lindgren’s K-Q. “The Huntress’” time was cut short when Laak turned a straight against her Aces. The rest of the tournament played like a tag-team wrestling match. Matusow and Hellmuth bonded over the way Esfandiari and Laak were running over them and were dumbfounded by their dumb luck. They called them “stupid,” “moronic” and “idiots” but couldn’t figure out a way to stop losing money. After Matusow was eliminated by one of Esfandiari’s “stupid” plays, Hellmuth told them “I will have justice.” He didn’t. In heads-up, Esfandiari had a $20K advantage but he didn’t have nearly enough mojo. Laak won almost every hand and claimed the $120K winner-take-all prize.
