One World Series of Poker Bracelet
An all around poker player, Annie Duke is more than just the leading money winner among women at the World Series of Poker - she's one of the best players in the world.
Before joining the pro circuit, “The Duchess of Poker” had a world class academic career, pursuing a doctorate in cognitive psychology at the University of Pennsylvania.
It was during that time when her poker champion brother, Howard Lederer, invited her to attend the World Series of Poker. It wasn't long before Annie was mastering the game of No-Limit Hold 'em.
In her first World Series tournament, Annie placed 13th. In her second, she placed third and, during her first year in the big time, she cashed for more than $70,000.
Since then, Annie has knocked out many a champ, including her own brother. Annie is the only woman in history to ever win two major tournaments in one year.
As of 2006, Annie has won one World Series of Poker bracelet and more than $3.1 million in tournament prize money.
