Made the final table of a WSOP-C event
Jean-Robert Bellande is an international superstar. He was born in New York City, but grew up in Taiwan before moving to Los Angeles at the age of 17.
Jean-Robert, or Bobby as he's known to his friends, started promoting night clubs in L.A. and eventually owned his own club. He tried his hand playing poker at the Bicycle Casino one night and was instantly hooked, even after losing almost $13K! Jean-Robert took a few more tough lessons in poker, and huge loses, before he started to seriously study the game and become pro.
In 2005, he announced his arrival as a top-level player in true Jean-Robert fashion - loudly. Jean-Robert accumulated more than half a million in tournament winnings during a three week run in March, including a final table appearance in the WSOP-C event at the Rio. For his career, he's earned more than $700K in tournament play. A world-class trash talker, Jean-Robert loves to be the table captain and infect the other players' minds with his non-stop banter. He prefers that his opponents dislike him because he believes it gives him an edge on the competition.
Most recently, Jean-Robert tried to transfer his skills from the felt to the world of reality TV, appearing on the hit show Survivor: China. Trying his best to outtalk his opponents, Jean-Robert was voted of the show in eighth place. Whatever he's doing, be it running a night club, playing poker, or appearing on a reality TV show, we know one thing about Bobby: he's a survivor.
