Four-time gold bracelet winner, including the 1996 Main Event
Berry Johnston belongs to the old guard of poker. He is kind, gracious, and respectful of the game at all times.
Berry made a name for himself in the 1980s playing alongside the legends of the game. By cutting his teeth with the best, this true poker veteran earned his reputation as one of the game's top tournament players.
Coming in third place at both the 1982 and 1985 WSOP Main Event, Berry was determined to reach his goal and take down poker's top prize. He achieved that in 1986, winning the Main Event for a $570K first prize. Berry is a master of the Main Event, having cashed more times than any other player in history. All told, he has five gold bracelets to call his own.
In 2004, Berry was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. He has truly earned that honor by his many years of commitment to the game. But perhaps Berry is best summed up in these words by another legend of poker, Doyle Brunson, "What I admired most about Berry is not Berry the great poker player, but Berry the man. He is a deeply religious and devoted family man, who has always been a gentleman at all times."
