Three WSOP bracelets
Chau Giang has come a long way.
Chau fled his native Vietnam in the late 1970s and made his way to Florida, where he worked minimum wage jobs to survive. It was then that he discovered poker - and what a discovery it was. Prompted by his success, Chau soon moved to Las Vegas where he made more than $100K in his first year as a professional poker player.
An experienced tournament player, Chau has seen success in the WSOP, winning three gold bracelets and coming in as high as 13th in the Main Event. But his real passion is playing high-stakes cash games where he can regularly be found playing limits of $4,000/$8,000 or more. Chau is also a frequent player in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio, where he plays alongside poker's best players, including his neighbor Doyle Brunson.
Chau is also known for stating that poker is not a game of luck, but of skill. He once told a reporter: "At the table I hear people say, ‘Poker is luck.' That is 100 percent wrong. If they are losing, it is because they're doing something wrong. Poker is skill, it isn't luck. In the long run, day after day after day, you cannot get lucky all the time."
We know one player who certainly won't be getting unlucky in his first appearance on Poker After Dark.
