2006 WPT Ladies Night Out winner; more than $1.5 million in career earnings
Joanne Jishune Liu is known as "JJ" to her friends and fans. And although she's known for her wit and fashion sense at the table, it's her sharp game that usually gets her the most notice.
Born and raised in Taiwan, JJ was well versed in Chinese gambling games. She never played poker, though, until she tried her hand in a tournament at the Bay 101 Casino in 1996. The rest, as they say, is history.
JJ has cashed in more than 40 major tournaments around the world, including nine in the money finishes at the WSOP - two of which were final table appearances. JJ has also experience success in the WPT, including winning the 2006 Ladies Night Out event and coming in second at the 2007 Bay 101 Shooting Stars event.
All told, JJ is one of the top women players of all time and has made more than $1.5 million in lifetime tournament winnings. She credits her success in poker to reading Sun Tzu's The Art of War. When she's not travelling or playing poker, JJ likes to relax by playing a little piano. Whenever she's not at the table, its music to her opponent's ears.
