Won a gold bracelet at the 2005 World Series of Poker
These days, Jennifer Tilly is probably best known as an actress. However, the way she "acts" at the poker table is quickly earning her a reputation as one of the best women players in the game.
Jennifer first came to the public eye in the movie The Fabulous Baker Boys, where she played a singing waitress in a part created especially for her. She was then nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Woody Allen's Bullets Over Broadway.
After her success, Jennifer continued to keep busy with her acting career, landing many interesting roles over the years. However, for the past several years she's been working quietly on another career - her poker game. Given all the time and attention she has devoted to this new career, it's hardly surprising that her dedication has paid off. In 2005, Jennifer outlasted 600 other players to win first place in a World Series of Poker event. She then went on to win the 2005 World Poker Tour Ladies Invitational Tournament in Los Angeles.
Right now, Jennifer says that she is more interested in pursuing professional poker than acting. In fact, she has completely immersed herself in the world of poker. She is in The Poker Movie, a 2006 documentary film that features interviews with several poker professionals, including Phil Gordon, Jennifer Harman, and Howard Lederer.
Jennifer is also currently dating poker pro Phil "The Unabomber" Laak. Phil is a well-known pro whose nickname refers to the trademark hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses he always wears. Jennifer's association with Phil and her movie-star looks have given her her own unique nickname on the poker circuit - "The Unabombshell."
