No matter what anyone says, there’s no such thing as a “self made man.” If someone is lucky enough to climb to great heights in life, you can bet someone gave them a helping hand along the way. The pros in this week’s match are no exception. They learned some hard lessons on their own, but it’s impossible to get real insight into the game unless someone points you in the right direction. Moreover, these pros love to talk shop. The amateurs at the table are two highly acclaimed actors and one of the best pitchers in the last twenty years. Still, with all their success and fame, all they really want to be is cool. And what’s cooler than being a poker player? Phil Gordon is playing beside his pupil, Academy Award nominee Don Cheadle. Gavin Smith’s student is future hall of famer Orel Hershiser, and Barry Greenstein is Jedi Master to Jason Alexander’s poker padawan. The mentors wish their mentees well, but with $120K up for grabs, school is definitely out.
