Poker players love their nicknames. It’s their calling card. They try to live up to their nickname because the table image works for them. Annette “The Huntress” Obrestad is just trying her nickname on for size for right now. But since Annie Duke called her one of the most terrifying players she’s ever seen it might be a good fit. Antonio “The Magician” Esfandiari entertained people with card tricks before figuring out how to make his opponents’ chips disappear. Mike “The Mouth” Matusow’s nickname needs no explanation. Erick “E Dog” Lindgren might not have the most creative nickname but he’s a lot of peoples’ best friend. Phil “The Unabomber” Laak might be as crazy as his namesake, but he’s definitely a lot more fun to hang out with. Finally, chances are “The Poker Brat” will be pouting, crying, cursing and winning even when Phil Hellmuth is in his 70s.
